Small form factor PCs are built to move. Many FormD T1 systems live in backpacks, carry-on luggage, studio bags, or get shipped between home and office. The T1 is compact and portable, but today’s GPUs are larger, heavier, and a lot more expensive than when the case first launched in 2019.
The FormD T1 GPU Anti-Sag + Travel Kit is a simple answer to that problem: a brace for heavy graphics cards near the front of the case. It provides extra support for heavy GPUs without removing a single screw from the graphics card, so that you can move your system with more confidence and less strain on the PCIe bracket and GPU PCB.
What’s new in this production run?
Our first production run of the FormD T1 GPU Anti-Sag + Travel Kit was intentionally small. We wanted to see how it behaved in real builds and how many people actually needed a dedicated travel brace.
From that first batch:
- It was reported as easy to install
- Feedback was quite positive
- Many users appreciated having a solution that didn’t involve removing parts from the GPU
That response gave us the confidence to move into a larger, more stable production run.
Based on feedback from the community, this new run includes a few small but useful updates:
- Refined support geometry
- Minor tweaks to improve anti-sag behavior and make positioning a little more intuitive.
- Clearer documentation
- Better explanation of what the kit does, what it doesn’t try to do, and how it fits into common FormD T1 layouts.
- Updated 3D test-fit file
- A new model so you can quickly check clearance or adapt it for edge-case builds.
The concept hasn’t changed: it’s still a brace for heavy graphics cards near the front of the case, with no need to remove any screws on your graphics card. This run simply adds small refinements based on real-world customer feedback.
What the FormD T1 GPU Anti-Sag + Travel Kit does?
The kit is built around a simple scenario: you have a FormD T1 with a large graphics card, and you want extra support so the GPU stays secured inside the case when the system is being moved.
Key benefits:
1. Install it without taking the graphics card apart
- You keep the card exactly as it comes out of the box
- No removing the backplate or the PCIe bracket at the rear IO
- No loosening or removing any screws on the graphics card
2. Supports the GPU at the front of the case
- The brace is installed at the front of the case and can hold up the far end of the graphics card.
- This helps reduce pressure on the PCIe bracket, GPU PCB and PCIe riser when the system is lifted, tilted, or packed for transport.
3. FormD T1–specific fit
- Geometry and mounting points are designed specifically for the FormD T1 small form factor cases
- Tested with common high-end GPUs within the documented size limits
It’s a functional brace, not a cosmetic mod. The goal is simple: make it less stressful to pick up your T1, put it in a bag, and go.
Why there is NO rear IO cover?
Some people expect a full frame or rear IO cover around the GPU. The FormD T1 GPU Travel Kit does not include one, on purpose.
1. Keeping GPU exhaust open
The FormD T1 relies a lot on open paths around the GPU backplate for hot air to escape. A solid rear IO cover would block airflow and likely increase GPU and CPU thermals.
By leaving the rear IO area open:
- Exhaust air from the GPU has fewer obstacles
- It’s easier to avoid heat buildup around the motherboard and GPU
This follows the same logic as removing unnecessary covers in performance-focused builds: less blockage, fewer hot spots, better thermals.
2. Compatibility without over-complicating the design
In practice, PCIe brackets are not all the same:
- Different generations and AIB designs
- Slight differences in bracket shapes and cutouts
- Many used GPUs have slightly bent rear brackets, which makes tight IO covers harder to align
A “universal” PCIe bracket would either:
- Break compatibility for some GPUs, or
- Turn into a complex, multi-part system that adds cost and raises the chance of fit issues.
Instead of trying to cover everything, the Travel Kit focuses on a simple front brace that:
- Works across a broad range of GPUs within the defined limits
- Stays out of the rear exhaust area
- Keeps installation straightforward
If you want a cosmetic IO gap cover or a fully closed frame, there are community and third-party options that focus on that look. The FormD T1 GPU Anti-Sag Travel Kit is intentionally about support and airflow, not filling every opening.
Who this is for (and who it isn’t)
This kit is a good match if you:
- Travel or move your FormD T1 regularly (flights, commuting, studio work, LAN events, moving home)
- Use a large or heavy GPU and want extra support during transport
- Prefer not to remove GPU backplates, IO brackets, or loosen any factory screws on the card
- Want a machined, ready-to-install solution instead of designing your own bracket
It’s probably not the right choice if you:
- Mainly want a cosmetic IO gap cover or a fully enclosed frame around the GPU
- Are comfortable disassembling GPU hardware and prefer full-plate or replacement IO solutions
- Already have a custom 3D-printed or metal bracket that does exactly what you need
The FormD T1 GPU Travel Kit is one option in the small form factor ecosystem, aimed at builders who prioritize no-mod installation and practical support with minimal impact on thermals.
Compatibility & installation overview
In short:
- Designed for FormD T1 v2.5 and v2.1
- Intended for modern high-end GPUs within the documented size limits
- Compatible with supported GPU positions in the FormD T1, as listed in the latest manual
For reference, we’ve test-fitted the FormD T1 GPU Travel Kit with popular cards such as the RTX 5090, 5080, 4090, 4080 Founders Edition, and similar high-end GPUs within our published size limits.
Basic install flow
- Mount the brace at the designated locations inside the FormD T1.
- Adjust the contact point so it meets the front edge of your GPU.
- Check that the GPU is firmly supported from the front before packing or transporting.
You don’t need to remove GPU backplates, PCIe brackets, or adjust anything on the GPU itself. The latest 3D test-fit file is available if you want to do a quick clearance check in your layout before ordering.
